Great post Clint.
I think if you were to look at the acquisition purely from an analytics component, the synergies are minimal. But I think it provides Adobe a way to enter the enterprise market. Adobe also recently bought a content management vendor called BusinessCatalyst, so they're clearly entering the web enterprise space.

@Jacques Warren: These kinds of things usually make me think all the things that might be possible (optimistic Wot?). To your second point, I think that the business sector of stand alone 'web analytics' platforms might well disappear, but the market for strong, highly trained analysts won't. :)

Possible, possible. All you suggest is possible. What still bothers me is that a *Web* company got them, not an *Analytics* one. Hey, as Alex Yoder says, it's good for WA awareness (didn't Google Analytics do just that?), but will it really if the Omniture products become totally embedded in Adobe's ones, and it fact "disappear"?

Maybe the "Analytics" part of Web Analytics will simply vanish as a standalone business.

"Let go! Let go" cries the budhist in me.
